A website for a local (Exeter) not for profit food organisation. Targets for the website is to attract more customers and more people attending educational events
Love Local Food offer a number of services to communities in Exeter. Several of these promote activities that have an inevitable environmental benefit, which is of particular interest to me. So I am really happy to be working with Love Local Food on their website.
The website is split into 3 distinct sections: Buy, Explore and Mission. Love Local Food operate a mobile food van which is out and about around Exeter 3 days a week. The Buy section of the website promotes this with route plans, which link to Google Maps, pricelists, price comparisons with Sainsbury's and Tesco's, list of food producers. All of which can be easily updated by Love Local Food.
Explore features a series of information pages about Love Local Food activities and an events calendar that allows them to promote upcoming one-off events and recurring events.
And the Mission section again features a series of information pages and is home to the Love Local Food blog.
Feedback on the new website from Love Local Food customers has been very positive, which is great. But what's important with any site is that it is kept up to date. It was important that while the front end of the website looked great, the backend was also easy to use, especially for Love Local Food members with no technical experience.
Using Expression Engine to build the website has allowed me to create a set of custom fields for every section of the site. This makes it easy to add new content, easy to edit existing content and by separating different bits of data on each page, it makes the website highly flexible for the future because it's easy to take the website information and restructure it to fit a different template.
