on Web Design & SEO

As a homage to Heroes' Save the Cheerleader, save the World and Howies Do Lectures. I have launched a new Save the World category on this website.

Save the World

I could be posting this message on the Ethical Living section of Mekonta - but a lot of my motivation for launching this new section on the website has been driven by web design.

It's still very much a work in progress, but I have just put live Save the World - currently just a single page with a series of three lists of ways to progressively Green up your lifestyle.

I wanted to do this, because as I say on the list, one of the most important actions any of us can take towards being greener is being pro-active - not simply choosing to be green ourselves but to do whatever we can to spread the message that everyone needs to be making the same steps if we really do want to stop serious climate change.

And I figure my key skill set is with web design - so I have launched this web category, which I hope to both expand to many more pages with information on environmentally friendly living - and also in expanding the current list to be a much more comprehensive list of resources.

I have made the decision to make this a separate are to the Ethical living blog on Mekonta because as a personal project it also gives me more possibilities to play around with new techniques and design for the web. Thus killing two birds with one stone for me (probably an inappropriate metaphor in the context of being green).

I need to give more thought to the branding of the Save the World section. I rather like the name if recognised as being slightly tongue in cheek. But when I came to put a link on the page that just read save the world I was a whole lot less comfortable with it and went with the less hippy sounding link, in homage to Howies Do Lectures - Do. I'll probably need to sort out a more definite name one way or the other - but will mull that one over, over the next few weeks.
