I need to spend more time getting involved with Exeter based action against Climate Change, where I can play an active role.

Being Green in Exeter

One of the difficulties I find with keeping up-to-date with current events and research in climate change is that there is so much information out there.

I get press releases from Greenpeace and The Green Party, I read articles daily on The Guardian, Friends of the Earth, IPCC, and many many other sites linked to from other articles. Plus books on environmental science. So I'm reasonably clued up on climate change, both likely consequences and opportunities for stopping it. However, I'm not sure I'm doing enough.

Today I was talking to some guys from Exeter Friends of the Earth and realised I am not actually that clued up on what is going on on my doorstep. And it's all very well having an overall understanding of what is happening to the environment and what steps need to be taken to combat these changes - but the sad thing is, very few people are making the transition to a different lifestyle pattern. So I need to spend more time encouraging other people to change their lifestyle and be greener.

A while back I created a new section on Mekonta Do - which I wanted to use to list pro-active steps we could all be doing to improve our lifestyles. And after today I have decided to target this section on Exeter, because as reclusive as I am, it's still an unavoidable fact that a local group all working to their strengths is going to be more effective than me on my own.

I'll crack open Photoshop shortly and start playing around with the formatting of how I'll develop this area on the site, but until it's built - a few quick Exeter related links:
